Job Description

Joyo is acquired by Amazon.com in 2004 and it has become one of the largest Chinese e-commerce companies in the world. We are following core values from Amazon.com and making exciting breakthroughs in the e-commerce market of China. You'll lead a team of talented DBA's in designing, implementing and operating Joyo.com's mission critical databases that are at the heart of our e-commerce platform. These databases and systems are pushing the limits of the technology and require innovative and unconventional approaches to systems architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability and scalability. Together with the software development team, you'll be responsible for delivering the next generation, high availability, low latency e-commerce platform for China. On the other hand, you'll also lead a small group of experienced SDE's in developing Joyo.com's monitoring & metrics system that is another core piece of our platform, monitoring performance from tens of servers, collecting and analyzing different metrics for all our application services, providing critical data for scalability & availability plannings and troubleshootings.
Job Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need experience managing large-scale, massively concurrent, highly available distributed Oracle/SQL Server systems. You should have a proven ability to rapidly master complex new skills and concepts, as well as the ability to work independently, self-motivate and teach team members to do the same. You must have the ability to coach, lead, rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure and have excellent interpersonal communication skills. You must be willing and able to get deep into the technical details, accurately assess and mitigate risks, be proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation and be able to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. We're looking for someone with a minimum of 3 years in Database Administration and 2-4 years of management experience with a proven track record of attracting, retaining and growing strong talent. Knowledge of all supporting infrastructure components, including operating systems, hardware/storage configurations and networks Excellent Window/UNIX skills and a grasp of fundamental computing concepts such as system calls, memory management and program debugging is desired.
